Korak is the Honorable Jack Clayton, son of English Lord John Clayton, Viscount Greystoke, also known as Tarzan, lord of the jungle.  He is the hero of a 1915/6 magazine serial and 1917 novel by American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs and a 1920 silent movie serial, as well as a character in several other Tarzan stories from 1914 to 1924.  He experienced a revival in 1964 as the star of his own comic book series and as a major character in various Tarzan comic books, pages, and strips from 1966 to 1978.

Superman is Kal-El, son of Jor-El of the planet Krypton, also known as Clark Kent, foster son of Jonathan and Martha Kent of Smallville.  With super alien powers, he is the hero of his own DC comic books series, debuting in 1938, a 1940 radio programa 1952 television series, and various blockbuster films, starting in 1978.  He was a founding member of the Justice League.

Korak strives to emulate the heroics of his legendary father but lacks his strength, maturity and experience.  Therefore, he is more likely to enter into dangerous situations and more vulnerable to being defeated.

Korak seeks to improve his fighting skills by challenging stronger opponents.  Superman accepts (a) because he can teach the callow, young hero some valuable fighting techniques, (b) because he is worried that his rejection may lead him to challenge a more serious foe, and (c) because he frankly enjoys tossing the handsome, athletic son of Tarzan around like a rag doll.

The two-picture series "Superman vs. Korak by jen-and-kris" was commissioned from an artist through DeviantART in 2015.  Although he is a peak human teen-aged jungle boy, Korak is no match for Superman.

This series is also meant as a representation of the inability of traditional heroes to compete in the superhero era in terms of popularity and commercial success.  .

These pictures are fan art and intended to raise interest in and appreciation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs character Korak.  I introduced Superman as a reluctant sparring partner and potential mentor.  These are original scenes and did not appear in any comic book, page, or strip.
