Hermes is the classical messenger god and god of trade, heraldry, merchants, commerce, roads, sports, travelers, and athletes.  The son of the god Zeus, his Roman counterpart is named Mercury.

Hades is the classical god of the dead and king of the underworld.  The brother of the god Zeus, his Roman counterpart is named Pluto.

In this Olympian battle, Hermes attempts to resist his uncle Hades, but the king of the underworld prevails and brings the messenger god down to his realm as a prize.
