Batman vs. Korak (jen-and-kris)

Korak is the Honorable Jack Clayton, son of English Lord John Clayton, Viscount Greystoke, also known as Tarzan, lord of the jungle.  He is the hero of a 1915/6 magazine serial and 1917 novel by American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs and a 1920 silent movie serial, as well as a character in several other Tarzan stories from 1914 to 1924.  He experienced a revival in 1964 as the star of his own comic book series and as a major character in various Tarzan comic books, pages, and strips from 1966 to 1978.

Batman is the vigilante crime-fighting alias of millionaire playboy Bruce Wayne.  Also known as the Caped Crusader, he starred in his own DC comic book series since 1939, a popular 1966 television series on ABC, and various blockbuster films, starting in 1989.  He was a founding member of the Justice League.

Korak strives to emulate the heroics of his legendary father but lacks his strength, maturity and experience.  Therefore, he is more likely to enter into dangerous situations and more vulnerable to being defeated.

Korak seeks to improve his fighting skills by challenging stronger opponents.  Batman accepts (a) because he can teach the callow, young hero some valuable fighting techniques, (b) because he is worried that his rejection may lead him to challenge a more serious foe, and (c) because the handsome, athletic son of Tarzan would frankly be a good sparring partner.

The two-picture series "Batman vs. Korak by jen-and-kris" was commissioned from an artist through DeviantART in 2015.  Although he is a peak human teen-aged jungle boy, Korak is no match for Batman.

This series is also meant as a representation of the inability of traditional heroes to compete in the superhero era in terms of popularity and commercial success.  .

These pictures are fan art and intended to raise interest in and appreciation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs character Korak.  I introduced Batman as a reluctant sparring partner and potential antagonist.  These are original scenes and did not appear in any comic book, page, or strip.
