Introducing Tarzan

Introducing Tarzan by Bowen12a
Tarzan is the English Lord John Clayton, Viscount Greystoke.  He is the hero of a series of novels, beginning in 1914, written by American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs, and a series of movies, beginning in 1918.  He is most memorably portrayed on film by former Olympic swimmer Johnny Weissmuller, beginning in 1932, and on television by Ron Ely, beginning in 1966.  However, my favorite depiction was in the Filmation animated television series beginning in 1976.

Korak is the son of Tarzan, the hero of a 1915/6 magazine serial and 1917 novel by American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs and a 1920 silent movie serial, as well as a character in several other Tarzan stories from 1914 to 1924.  He experienced a revival in 1964 as the star of his own comic book series and as a major character in various Tarzan comic books, pages, and strips from 1966 to 1978.

In "Introducing Korak by Bowen12a", Korak is captured by a hunter who has a grudge against Tarzan and is using his handsome, athletic son as bait.  In this picture, Tarzan rescues his boy from the hunter.

The picture "Introducing Tarzan by Bowen12a" was commissioned from an artist through DeviantART in 2016.  Tarzan is based upon the character from the Filmation animated television series.

This picture is fan art and intended to raise interest in and appreciation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs characters Tarzan and Korak.  This is an original scene and did not appear in any comic book, page, or strip.
