Dorno is the son of Zandor, leader of the Herculoids, and his wife Tara, a family of three humans and their five very powerful pet creatures defending their jungle planet. The Herculoids were the subjects of an American animated television series, which debuted in 1967 and was revived in 1981 on CBS and produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions.
The 6-picture series "Dorno and the Buccaneer by roemesquita" was one that I commissioned from an artist through DeviantART in 2020.
It was inspired by an episode from the second season in 1981. In "The Buccaneer", Zandor stops the pirates from digging for buried treasure in a geologically sensitive location. In retaliation, the Buccaneer takes Zandor's son Dorno hostage. Ultimately, Dorno is rescued, and the Buccaneer is defeated by the Herculoids. However, in this version, more focus is given to Dorno's capture, and, having escaped the Herculoids, the Buccaneer must decide what to do with his hostage.
These pictures are fan art and primarily intended to raise interest in the Herculoids and Dorno. These are original scenes and did not appear in any movies, television series or any other derivative media.
